Truck crash shuts down stretch of NJ Turnpike in East Brunswick

The fiery crash occurred just after 8 p.m. when the tractor-trailer in the right lane sideswiped the one in the center lane. Both became fully engulfed. The tractor-trailer in the right lane had medical supplies on it, including oxygen tanks, which is what caused the explosions and fire. The turnpike was shut down near Exit 9 northbound, with the crash causing a series of blasts.Authorities said the other tractor-trailer was carrying papers. The materials were non-hazardous. Dale Miller, of Claymont, Del., who was driving the truck in the center lane, was injured, and was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital with minor burns. He is in serious condition. Wheeler Brodie, of Franklinton, N.C., was driving the truck in the right lane and was uninjured. Repairs to the road were underway Thursday morning.
