Mother who had four times blood alcohol limit with son in car pleads guilty to assault by auto

A Rutherford mom who had four times the blood-alcohol limit when she crashed her car – with her 8-year-old son inside – pleaded guilty to assault by auto and driving while intoxicated charges, authorities announced.

Rutherford woman who had 0.32 BAC when she crashed car with son inside gets probation, report says

Anna K. Phillips told a Sussex County Superior Court Judge Friday during her sentencing that she since sought treatment for alcoholism and also attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings several times a week, New Jersey Herald reports.

Phillips was driving with her blood-alcohol limit at four times the legal level when she lost control of her car. The car knocked over two utility poles, overturned, and landed upside down in a tree. Her 8-year-old son was in the car. Fortunately they were both wearing their seatbelts, which police believe saved their lives.

Phillips pleaded guilty to assault by auto and driving while intoxicated charges. She could face up to 18 months in jail on the fourth-degree assault charge.

too bad she didn't go to jail where she belonged and much deserved. Probation was not enough but it WILL happen again bc nasty white trash like her don't change and never learn. Never. WE WILL BE READING ABOUT HER AGAIN! I bet on it.

Can you believe she's Married to a cop who was with her when this all happened ? Her son even got taken away from her temporarily. Too bad it wasn't permanent. Poor kid. And she now is married to the cop and they have a kid together. Smh. Terrible
