'Serious crash' shuts down N.M. Highway 26 between Hatch and Deming
EL PASO - A multi-vehicle crash Saturday morning shut down NM Highway 26, which connects Deming and Hatch. Officials with the New Mexico Department of Transportation told ABC-7 the highway is closed, "due to a very serious multi-vehicle accident." Officials urge drivers heading to that area to reduce speed, obey posted signs, watch for emergency vehicles and use extreme caution, adding that there could be significant delays.

New Mexico State Police say 33-year-old Lourdes Vacio and 12-year-old Janelly Lizette Vacio died when the vehicle they were traveling in on State Road 26 collided with the other vehicle early Saturday morning.
