Motorcyclist dies after hitting deer
A Stanley man on a motorcycle died late Friday after running into a deer, according to New Mexico State Police.
Ike Dickmeyer, 55, was killed in the crash that happened around 11:15 p.m. at mile marker 11 on N.M. 344, north of Edgewood.
State Police said the preliminary investigation shows that Dickmeyer was going south on N.M. 344 when the collision happened. He died from his injuries at the scene.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
