Why was the horse being ridden in the road? There is a path for equestrians and pedestrians a safe distance off the road. Why ride in the road as the sun is setting when there is a riding trail? Why ride on a busy county road at all when there is a path or trail to ride? Why did a man have to die, 2 others injured, a horse hit, injured and traumatised? As drivers when we operate a motor vehicle we have to operate that vehicle safely and responsibly. When we mount our equestrian partners and ask them to trust us it is our responsibility to keep them safe! It is spring, the beginning of flowers, children, bicyclists, motorcyclists, dogs, cats, joggers, hikers, equestrians, the list goes on but it is our responsibility to ourselves and others to do whatever we enjoy safely!!

All of us are asking that question, Why was our family member killed because the horse owner felt he was to good to use the path instead of the middle of the road? Steve was a very experienced and safe rider. He had his beloved wife on the back and would not risk anything to hurt her or himself. He was a new grandpa and had much to live for, why was he taken from us?

So sorry for your loss of your family (our friend).
