Authorities say an Oklahoma man is dead after a rollover accident in northeastern New Mexico.

A 23-year-old Oklahoma man is dead after a vehicle he was in swerved to avoid hitting a dog east of Springer, NM, according to the New Mexico State Police

A 23-year-old Oklahoma man is dead after a vehicle he was in swerved to avoid hitting a dog east of Springer, NM, according to the New Mexico State Police.

A State Police spokesman said the vehicle, which was carrying four people, rolled over through a steel pipe and cable fence before coming to a stop on its wheels, killing 23-year-old David Michael Hamilton of Newcastle, Okla. David Hamilton was not wearing his seat belt, and State Police say he was ejected from the car.

Riley Garrison Gibson, 23, of Newcastle, Okla., was seriously injured in the crash and transported a Pueblo, Colo. hospital, State Police said. Gibson, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was not wearing his seat belt either.

The two other occupants — 25-year-old Tyler Edward Hamilton of Oklahoma City, and 22-year-old Ryan Alan Raberding of Norman, Okla., who was sitting behind the driver — suffered minor injuries, according to State Police. Both Tyler Hamilton and Raberding were wearing seat belts, according to State Police.
