Deputies ID man killed in Orleans County crash

Deputies say Jeffrey Muntz was traveling west on Podunk Road near East Shelby Road in the Town of Shelby around 9:45 p.m. when he lost control of his car and crossed over the center line. Deputies say the car traveled more than 50 feet off the road and ended up in a marsh.
Police say a man has died after his car crashed off a rural western New York road and ended up in a marsh. The Orleans County Sheriff's Office tells local media that the man was driving west on Podunk Road around 9:45 p.m. Thursday when he crossed the center line, left the road and traveled more than 150 feet before crashing into marshland in the town of Shelby, 30 miles east of Buffalo. Deputies say witnesses spotted the car partially submerged in about 3 feet of water and pulled the man out before an ambulance crew arrived. The driver later died at Medina Memorial Hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
