Steven R. Churchfield, 48, seriously injured when his vehicle left Ridge Road and struck a utility pole in Hartland, New York

Dispatchers received several 911 calls about the accident shortly after 5 p.m. that occurred at a curve in the 9400 block of Ridge. Deputies determined the vehicle was eastbound on Ridge when it failed to negotiate the curve in the road. It went on to the south shoulder and struck a utility pole, which was severed in half. The vehicle continued off the road on into a field, where it overturned.
