Sheriff’s deputies charge an alleged hit-run driver with drunken driving.

A Lockport man faced a number of charges after he allegedly was driving drunk when he left the scene of a two-vehicle crash at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday, at Lincoln and Beattie avenues. No serious injuries were reported, but an expectant mother whose vehicle was rear-ended was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport for observation.

No serious injuries were reported, but an expectant mother whose vehicle was rear-ended was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport for observation.

Michael J. Kuhn, 33, of South New York Street was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated for having a blood alcohol level more than two times the legal limit of 0.08 percent, following too closely and leaving the scene of an accident.

Deputies traced the hit-and-run vehicle to Kuhn’s home said he was “highly intoxicated.” He first denied that he had left the house, but then admitted he had been to a pub on Lincoln Avenue where he had a beer investigators said.

When Kuhn was told about the victim he allegedly told officers, “Oh great, now I’m a drunk driver who hit a pregnant lady.” Bail was set at $250 and a return court date for the City of Lockport was set for Tuesday.
