West Seneca driver killed in Pavilion crash on ice road

A dog was also in the van and appeared to be unharmed. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office and Mercy EMS were the Pavilion and LeRoy volunteer fire departments.
A 44-year-old West Seneca man died Saturday in a single-vehicle accident on Route 20 near South Street in the Town of Pavilion. Icy roads are believed to be the cause, according to law enforcement. Christopher J. Hartnett was driving eastbound on Route 20 at about 4:48 p.m. when he lost control of his minivan, which slid off the road and crashed into a tree. Harnett was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries, and was pronounced deceased on arrival. Front-seat passenger Andrew Hartnett, 14, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with a head injury; he is listed in stable condition. A rear-seat passenger, Jonah Cross, 10, of Amherst, sustained minor injuries and was also transported to Strong Memorial for treatment.
