Dunkirk man charged with DWI after Pomfret crash.

State police charged a 49-year-old Dunkirk man with drunk driving and speeding after he was treated Wednesday at Brooks Memorial Hospital for minor injuries suffered when his vehicle crashed into a snow embankment about 8:30 a.m. on State Route 20 in the Town of Pomfret.

Robert K. Beck III was issued tickets for Pomfret Town Court charging driving while intoxicated and speeding. Beck was heading east on Route 20 when he struck a sign post on the south side of the road and ended up in the embankment, police said.
