Driver, eight students hurt in Athens school bus crash

A medical condition led an Athens school bus driver to leave the road and strike two trees Wednesday morning, resulting in minor injuries to nine people, Towanda State Police said.
Tammy Jenkins was driving a school bus on Milan Road at around 7:40 a.m. when she suffered from a medical condition, causing the bus to leave the road and strike two trees. There were 30 students aboard Bus 116 that morning, and eight of them recieved minor injuries and were transported to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for evaluation. The students were a mix of elementary and middle school students. Traffic was detoured for several hours. Students that were not taken to the hospital were taken to Harlan Rowe Middle School until their parents could be contacted.
