Authorities shut down one lane after the crash, which occurred about 2 miles south of Interstate 84. Northbound traffic was backed up for hours, as far as Exit 6 in Katonah.
2-Car Accident on I-684 Kills Danbury Man
A Danbury, CT man died last night on I-684 in a two-car accident that snarled traffic for hours.
At approximately 7:18 p.m., New York State Police responded to a two-car personal injury auto accident that occurred on Interstate 684. Investigation revealed that a maroon 2005 Buick Rendezvous, operated by Israel N. Albarracin, age 37, of Danbury, Connecticut, was traveling north on Interstate 684. The Rendezvous struck a northbound 2011 Subaru Legacy, operated by 27-year-old Raymond P. Finney, of Carmel, in the rear passenger side quarter panel. The Buick exited the roadway, rolled over and subsequently struck a tree. Albarracin was pronounced dead at the scene by Transcare, and Finney was uninjured.
