Kingston man, 57, critically injured in bicycle accident on U.S. Route 209 in Ulster

Ulster Police Chief Anthony Cruise said Schleede was “riding in the lane, legally” at the time of the accident.

Bicyclist suffers serious injury in Town of Ulster

Cruise’s statement said Town of Ulster police were assisted on the scene by Mobile Life Support Services, the Ulster Hose fire Co., and Life Flight.
It was about 5:40 p.m. when David Schleede, 57, was riding a bicycle with a group of 15 other cyclists on U.S. Route 209, when he rode over some uneven pavement in the roadway, lost control of his bike, and was thrown from it. Despite Schleede's proper riding and helmet usage, he suffered a serious head injury and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
