A mother and her three young daughters were hurt, two of them seriously, after their SUV crashed into a utility pole in Orange County Thursday evening, police say.

The SUV went down a hill and crashed into the pole outside a supermarket parking lot on Tower Drive in Wallkill at about 8 p.m., according to State Police. It's not clear what caused the crash.
The mother and her 5-year-old daughter in the front seat were taken by ambulance to Orange Regional Medical Center, police said.
The girls in the back, ages 3 and 4, were flown to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries.
Authorities say the victims were not wearing seat belts.
