The accident Thursday morning occurred on I-81 north just south of the exit 11 ramp to Cortlandville, troopers said.
As the 2007 Volvo trailer rolled over, the trailer became detached and fell into the Tioughnioga River.

The trailer was owned by Transcom Corp. in Pennsylvania, police said. Troopers say they are investigating the cause of the accident.
