Terry Knapp, Otsego County coroner, said the vehicle, which was a Volkswagen, then traveled "a great distance" downhill and finally came to rest in a small ravine, where it caught fire. The men were killed before the fire broke out, Knapp said, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
