Katelyn Tyler Self, 26, and Amanda Self killed, several injured, and driver Roger Self arrested in intentional car crash into Surf and Turf Lodge in Bessemer City, North Carolina

The Gaston Gazette reported that wait staff said Self had initially taken his family into the restaurant and had them seated. He then went back out to his vehicle and drove at a high rate of speed into the area where they were sitting, they said. 

The second person killed was identified by the sheriff as Amanda Self, the wife of Roger Self’s son, Gaston County Police Officer Josh Self. Josh Self was injured and is in critical condition.    

But the pastor said that Self, his longtime friend, was struggling with mental illness so severe that he asked his son Josh to take his guns away about 10 weeks ago.
