Firefighters in Charlotte have cleared a vehicle crash that all but closed access to Interstate 77 southbound from Interstate 85 southbound Tuesday morning.

Firefighters in Charlotte have cleared a vehicle crash that all but closed access to Interstate 77 southbound from Interstate 85 southbound Tuesday morning.

The incident was reported at 6:59 a.m. at milemarker 38. That's the ramp from I-85 to I-77 southbound. The left lane of the ramp is closed.

The accident was cleared from the roadway by 8 a.m., according to NCDOT.

Medic transported one patient with potentially life threatening injuries.

Troopers in Burke County are responding to a deadly overturned tractor trailer crash on Interstate 40 eastbound that has shut down one lane.

One person is dead, according to NC Highway Patrol, and another person was taken to the hospital.

The incident was reported at 7 a.m. at mile marker 113 in Morganton, according to the NCDOT.

No word yet on what caused the semi to overturn though troopers say it wasn't ice.

Troopers stated that one man was driving and another was in the sleeper.

A woman was killed in a car accident on the interstate Thursday evening, according to Charlotte firefighters.

The accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. on southbound I-77 near the North and South Carolina state line.

State Troopers stated that a woman was driving northbound on I-77 when she collided with a tractor trailer. Her vehicle flipped and came to rest on the southbound side of the interstate.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

A Rock Hill woman is dead after a crash Thursday afternoon on Interstate 77 near Highway 160.

South Carolina Highway Patrol says 38 year old Lawanda Pressley's SUV ran off the interstate and hit a tree.

There's no word yet what caused the crash. Troopers are still investigating.

The three Charlotte residents killed Friday night in a three-car collision on I-77 have been identified as Tei Paw, 40; Khai Hne, 33; and Khai Tlo, 33; all three were passengers in the Honda Pilot involved in the crash. Four other people injured in the crash were transported to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The bus driver was not injured. The drivers of the Honda Accord and the Honda Pilot were taken to a hospital in Charlotte, along with two other passengers in the Pilot.

The N.C. Highway Patrol says troopers are investigating a fatal collision Monday morning at the rest stop on southbound Interstate 77 in Mooresville.

The collision was reported about 7:45 a.m., troopers said. It took place near mile marker 38, with a tractor-trailer and car colliding. Initial police reports indicated one person was killed.

Details are unclear, but the wreck apparently took place in one of the ramps leading into or out of the rest stop.

The N.C. Department of Transportation said the rest stop will remain closed until about 11 a.m.

One person was killed in a car accident on I-77 Sunday night, according to a release from the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened on I-77 northbound near the 28-mile marker, just south of Catawba Avenue.

Witnesses told officials that a 2007 Buick Lucerne was driving at a high rate of speed when the driver attempted to pass another vehicle on the left shoulder. The vehicle then lost control, came back onto the interstate and struck the guardrail on the right side of the interstate before becoming airborne and went down an embankment.

A woman was killed and a man arrested after a vehicle crash in northwest Charlotte, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.

The accident happened on Brookshire Boulevard at I-485 around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say a woman, later identified as 53-year-old Annie Louise Roller, was stopped at a red light on the off-ramp of I-485. When her light turned green, she attempted to make a left turn onto outbound Brookshire.
