One person was struck by a vehicle and killed in northeast Charlotte Thursday evening in what police are saying appears to be a hit and run. The incident happened around 7 p.m. on the 5500 block of North Tryon Street. Officials stated that one person, later identified as Margaret Rutledge, 51, was struck by a vehicle and has died. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said the incident appears to be a hit and run, and that the Major Crash Unit is investigating. North Tryon was shut down in both directions between Eastway Drive and Old Concord Road.
