Woman killed, man arrested after northwest Charlotte accident, officials say.

A woman was killed and a man arrested after a vehicle crash in northwest Charlotte, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.

A woman was killed and a man arrested after a vehicle crash in northwest Charlotte, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.

The accident happened on Brookshire Boulevard at I-485 around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say a woman, later identified as 53-year-old Annie Louise Roller, was stopped at a red light on the off-ramp of I-485. When her light turned green, she attempted to make a left turn onto outbound Brookshire.

A Ford Explorer being driven by 23-year-old Quantovius Lamanz Forte traveling inbound on Brookshire then ran a red light and struck Roller's vehicle on the left side doors, investigators told WBTV.

Roller was pronounced dead at the scene.

Forte was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. He was later arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.

Police say Forte was also charged with expired registration, expired vehicle inspection, and a red light violation.

Both inbound lanes of Brookshire Boulevard were shut down while emergency crews worked the scene.
