Woman Hurt When Leaving Car During Charlotte Police Chase
A car chase in Charlotte ended with two people being taken to the hospital, according to officials.
The chase started Tuesday afternoon around 3:54 p.m. when a Trooper with the NC Highway Patrol spotted a car going 95 miles per hour on Interstate 85 near Little Rock Road.
Police say the 2010 Mazda 3, which was being driven by a man later identified as 27-year-old Willie Cordelle Wright, was stolen out of Charlotte.
Wright is charged with felony speeding to elude, hit and run causing serious injury, possession of a stolen car, speeding and several misdemeanor charges, according to court records.
During the chase, officials say, Wright slowed down to about 25 miles per hour on the shoulder and a female passenger fell out of the vehicle, then kept going.
That passenger was then struck by another car. She was taken by medics to Carolinas Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.
