Speed, alcohol blamed in deadly north Charlotte motorcycle wreck

Officers say Szot was speeding along the road when his 2002 Suzuki GSX-R 100 ran off the road and he hit the tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 41-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a tree while he was speeding in northeast Charlotte. Alcohol may have also been a factor in his death, police said. According to investigators, 41-year-old Jamie Allen Szot was killed when his bike hit a tree along the 6900-block of Highland Creek Parkway around 8:13 p.m. Wednesday night. Officers say Szot was speeding along the road when his 2002 Suzuki GSX-R 100 ran off the road and he hit the tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say early indications show speed and alcohol were factors in Szot's death.
