Motorcycle accident kills man near speedway

Authorities say 25-year-old Carl Judson Parker was pronounced dead on scene. They believe Parker hit two vehicles, before crashing his motorcycle. Those drivers were not injured.

One man is dead after a motorcycle accident near Charlotte Motor Speedway. It happened around 6:00 Saturday night, on Morehead Road.

Authorities say 25-year-old Carl Judson Parker was pronounced dead on scene. They believe Parker hit two vehicles, before crashing his motorcycle. Those drivers were not injured.

Like dozens of others, Hunter Rogers was tailgating before the race, just feet from the crash site.

"It didn't sound right. All of a sudden I heard the exhaust rev way up," Rogers said.

Rogers ran to help, but he says it was too late.

"He still had his helmet on, he wasn't moving. There was a whole bunch of people there already holding him and wanting to give him CPR and stuff," Rogers said.

Rogers and other tailgaters eventually made their way to the race, but the crash was still engrained in their minds.

"Every one of us got in a circle and sent up a prayer for him. The Lord must have needed him more than we did," Rogers said.

No word yet on what may have caused the crash.
