One dead in Rowan Co. crash Posted: Updated: One person was pronounced dead on scene after a single-vehicle accident in Rowan County Saturday afternoon, according to officials. The accident reportedly happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of Goodman Lake Road, just a few miles east of Salisbury. Goodman Lake Road was closed for a while after the crash. Troopers are investigating what led up to the fatal crash. When troopers arrived on scene, they say a Nissan pickup was on its side, and appeared to have crashed into a tree.

Well known businessman victim in traffic crash

The man who died in the single vehicle crash on Goodman Lake Road on Saturday afternoon has been identified as Charles Ray Fleming, the operator of Fleming Candy Company on Highway 29 just south of Salisbury. Fleming Candy Company was started by Fleming's parents. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 PM Tuesday at the Summersett Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are now complete for Ray Fleming, according to Summersett Funeral Home.
