Tractor-trailer plows into parked bikers along N.C. interstate, leaving 1 dead and 5 hurt

Officials said six motorcycles from out-of-state were parked on the side of the road taking a break when a tractor-trailer hit them. After speaking with the tractor-trailer driver, troopers said they think he fell asleep at the wheel.  One person was killed and five were taken to the hospital after a wreck involving a tractor-trailer and six motorcycles on Interstate 85 southbound in Greensboro, Friday morning. Authorities said the tractor-trailer is out of Florida and there was a passenger in the front seat.

Tractor-Trailer Plows Into Motorcyclists, Two Killed

One of the motorcyclists, Arnie Morris, 37, of Woodbridge, Virginia, was killed instantly. The tractor-trailer driver, Daniel Serna, 34, of Plantation, Florida, and the co-driver, Jacob Salazar, 56, of Cutler Bay, Florida, were not injured. Two people were killed and four others were injured as a group of motorcyclists that stopped by the side of the road were hit by a tractor-trailer that veered off the road. North Carolina police said neither tractor-trailer driver was impaired by alcohol or drugs. Three others, Caroline Campbell, 47, of Chesterfield, Virginia; Michael Robinson Sr., 47, of Woodbridge, Virginia; and Gregory Harmon, 44, of Bowie, Maryland, were treated for minor injuries.

Woodbridge man killed in NC tractor-trailer accident

A Woodbridge man was one of two people killed Sunday after a tractor trailer plowed into a group of motorcyclists in North Carolina. According to Guilford County authorities, Arnie Morris, 37, was killed after being hit by a tractor-trailer on I-85. Investigators believe the driver of the tractor-trailer, Daneil Serna, may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Florida truck driver charged in crash that killed 2 on I-85

The News & Record of Greensboro reports the N.C. Highway Patrol said 34-year-old Daniel Santiago Serna, of Hollywood, Florida, is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and felony hit-and-run following Friday's accident. Serna was scheduled to appear in court Monday.

I stopped riding after 40 years on the road. Too dangerous now, especially with the impaired drivers and all the illegals driving without a license or insurance. I've lost too many friends, or seen them become amputees or bed-ridden.

 

There is a reason they are called Donorcycles.
