Thomas Eugene Martin, 68, killed in motorcycle collision with military vehicle driven by Camp Lejeune Marine Steven Crane, 21, on N.C. 210 in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina
Longtime retired Piedmont Triad educator hit, killed by military vehicle while riding motorcycle
Martin served as a teacher and principal in the Stokes County Schools system for several years, FOX8’s Chad Tucker confirmed. Martin and his wife Marie retired to Onslow County in 1999.
Highway Patrol told WCTI the military vehicle crossed the center line while trying to avoid traffic that had stopped suddenly and hit Martin’s motorcycle.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
