One dead, another hospitalized after Airport Road car crash
The Asheville Police Department said the crash happened at approximately 5:50 a.m. on Airport Road near Wellington Road. One driver died at the scene of the crash while another was transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville with "life-threatening injuries."

Authorities said a preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda Pilot, which was traveling northeast on Airport Road, had entered the turn lane to make a left onto Old Shoals Road.
