Deputies: Woman fatally struck doing yard work

Troopers with the N.C. Highway Patrol are investigating after a woman was fatally struck Wednesday afternoon. Henderson County deputies were at the scene assisting with traffic. Frank Stout with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office said a woman was doing yard work when a car left the road and struck and killed her.

According to NC Highway Patrol, a SUV ran off the road and struck Betty Grigsby, 64, while she was weedeating her yard. Troopers say the driver is a 16-year-old girl who was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injures. She was the only person was in the car at the time.
