Pope airman killed in Sanford wreck

“Christopher was a proud and dedicated member of the 43rd Logistics Readiness Squadron Cobras,” Maj. Peyton Smith, 43rd Logistics Readiness Squadron commander, said in a statement. “He was ambitious, energized and driven, setting the example for others to follow. We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Airman 1st Class Christopher D. Griffin, of Starr, South Carolina, died Monday after a single-vehicle accident on N.C. Highway 24/27 near Sanford. He was transported by first responders to the UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where he was pronounced dead. Griffin was assigned to the 43rd Logistics Readiness Squadron at Fort Bragg's Pope Airfield. An investigation of the wreck is ongoing, and we'll update this story with any new information we receive.
