The North Carolina Highway Patrol said an RV hit the back of a tractor trailer possibly hauling some type of corrosive chemical. Both vehicles ignited.

The fiery crash is just one of three crashes on the interstate. That one is close to mile marker 95. There are two more at markers 90 and 88. WTVD crews have learned there are two fatalities at the crash furthest south at Four Oaks.

A third crash, involving five vehicles, happened on I-95 at mile marker 88 after the fiery wreck. Authorities said a RV was stopped due to another crash when a tractor-trailer hit the RV and caused it to spin. Two people in the RV were killed.

Highway Patrol troopers are seeking public assistance in identifying the RV and the driver who was killed in the crash. Investigators are asking the public to provide any photos or videos that may have been taken immediately after the crash that may help them identify the registration plate and state of origin on the RV.
