OSHP: 3 People Killed, Meth Making Materials Found In Scioto Co. Crash

The Southern Ohio Drug Task Force was called to the scene for the chemical cleanup. Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
Law enforcement officers are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed three people Monday and meth making items found in the wreckage on state Route 522, east of Junior Furnace-Powellsville Road in Green Township. 45-year-old Ruben T. Sprouse, of Ironton Ohio, was driving a 1994 Ford F-150 eastbound on S.R. 522 when a 1997 Chevy Cavalier, driven by 51-year-old Harold W. Roof, of Pedro Ohio, traveling westbound, went left-of-center and hit Sprouse's truck. Sprouse's truck overturned onto its side and Roof's car went of the side of the road. Two people in Roof's vehicle were ejected. 20-year-old Daren H. Woods, of Wilmington Ohio, 23-year-old Natasha A. Bare and 24-year-old Jeremy W. Blanton, both of Maysville Kentucky, were all pronounced dead at the scene. Sprouse, Roof and another passenger in Roof's vehicle, Wesley M. Bare of Ripley Ohio, were all transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth with serious injuries. Troopers who arrived on scene found items used to make methamphetamine located in Roof's vehicle.
