Driver charged in fatal Middletown crash

Bond was set at $100,000 during Pickett’s hearing Monday morning in Middletown Municipal Court, according to court records. He remained in the Middletown City Jail on Monday night. His preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Oct. 27.

Middletown man found guilty in fatal OVI crash

 George Pickett, 39, of Middletown, was convicted Jan. 16, 2015, in a drunk-driving crash in October 2014, that killed 58-year-old motorcyclist Gregory Philpot of Middletown.  
Gregory Philpot, 58, died after his motorcycle collided with a Ford Explorer driven by George Pickett, 38, in Middletown, Ohio in Butler County. The accident occured around 10:15 p.m. on October 19, 2014 on Tytus Avenue when the Explorer was driving east on Tytus and the motorcycle west on Tytus. The Explorer crossed the center line and struck the motorcycle, ejecting Philpot from the motorcycle. Philpot was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and died at the scene. The driver of the Explorer was not injured. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
