Officials identify driver struck, killed by train in Barberton

BARBERTON, Ohio - The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office has released the name of a 51-year-old man struck and killed by a train in Barberton Anthony A. Nichols of Canton died after he drove his SUV into the path of an oncoming train at the tracks on Waterloo Road near Wooster Road, officials said. The crash happened about 6:15 a.m. Thursday as Nichols drove west on Waterloo Road in a Honda Pilot. Officials said Nichols drove around other vehicles in front of him and around the lowered crossing gates before the train hit him. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at about 6:45 a.m.
