Carolyn Merry, 63, killed in crash with Adrian Rogers, 40, on Interstate 71 on June 3.

One person was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a small SUV in the northbound lanes of Interstate 71 near Mount Sterling Tuesday afternoon. According to the West Jefferson post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 4:05 p.m. Tuesday near state Route 56, just south of the Pickaway County line. Troopers say Adrian Rogers, 40, of Little Rock Arkansas was driving a 2012 Peterbilt 386 north on I-71 when he failed to stop for traffic that was backed up from an earlier crash. Rogers struck the back of a Honda CR-V, driven by Carolyn Merry, 63, of Hilliard, and a second commercial vehicle, a 2013 Western Star, operated by William Clark Bell, Jr., 50, of Edenton, NC. Rogers’ truck traveled off the right side of the road and turned over onto its right side. Merry sustained fatal injuries in the crash, according to troopers. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Rogers and Bell were not injured in the crash.
