Three motorcyclists were killed Sunday evening after a crash in Lincoln County at about 6:25 p.m., whe a vehicle heading north on U.S. 177 went off the road to the right. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a motorcycle driven by Steven Franetovich, 49, of Shawnee. Franetovich was ejected from the motorcycle, which then was hit by a motorcycle driven by Clayton Franetovich, 20, also of Shawnee. A third motorcyclist, Brian Bacon, 36, of Shawnee, attempted to avoid the wrecked motorcycles and slid off the road. All three motorcyclists were pronounced deceased at the crash site.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
