Heavy wind blows pine tree onto moving car, injuring driver

A Grants Pass woman was injured on Saturday morning when her car collided with a tree blown onto the road by heavy winds. Oregon State Police and ODOT urge drivers to use caution when traveling on highways in forested areas during windy conditions.
Oregon State Police said Kristen Daniels, 42, was heading west on Oregon 230 in southeast Douglas County when a 40-foot tall pine tree fell onto the hood of her car, just missing her windshield. The impact caused Daniels to lose control, spin across the eastbound land and hit another pine tree off the roadway. The car's airbags deployed and Daniels was using a seat belt. Daniels sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Providence Medical Center in Medford. Oregon State Police and ODOT urge drivers to use caution when traveling on highways in forested areas during windy conditions.
