Indiana man killed in head-on crash west of Eugene; two others injured

Richard Andrew Jackson, 40, of Bloomington, Indiana, died at the scene of a two-vehicle head-on crash Tuesday afternoon near Walton in Lane County. Authorities were notified at 4:30 p.m. that the vehicles had collided on Oregon 126W about three miles west of Walton, a town midway between Eugene and the coastal town of Florence. Jackson was driving a 1995 Ford pickup truck westbound when it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Deborah Hope, 56, of Eugene. Hope and her passenger, 58-year-old Richard Hennigan of Eugene, were critically injured. Hope was transported by air ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis and Hennigan was driven to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield.
