The driver of a commercial truck sustained minor injuries Tuesday morning when his semi- trailer overturned in icy conditions near Central Linn High School along Highway 228 in Linn County.

Shortly before 7:45 a.m., Calvin Cowdrey was driving a 1994 Freightliner truck pulling a semi-trailer eastbound on the highway near milepost 1 when the trailer's right side tires crossed the fog line, said an Oregon State Police spokesperson.

The rear of the trailer slid off the icy shoulder into a ditch where the trailer and truck rolled onto its side.

Cowdrey, 56, of Harrisburg, was taken by ambulance to Albany General Hospital with minor injuries.

The highway lane was closed for several hours while crews unloaded the trailer, packed with bags of grass seed, so that a tow truck could lift both the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation.
