Astoria crash victim identified

The other passenger, Saranpaa, was pronounced dead at the scene. OSP said he was not using a seat belt.

The man who was killed in a Friday crash on U.S. 30 near Astoria has been identified as Bryce William Saranpaa, 43, of Warrenton.

Oregon State Police said the crash occurred just before 7 p.m. after a westbound 1999 Toyota Tacoma crossed the centerline on U.S. 30 and sideswiped an eastbound 1993 Ford pickup truck.

The Toyota driver, 38-year-old Michelle Lynn Fletcher, was flown to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with serious injuries. One passenger, Arthur Romine Jr., did not suffer injuries.

The other passenger, Saranpaa, was pronounced dead at the scene. OSP said he was not using a seat belt.

The Ford driver, 33-year-old Daniel Becerra Campos, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital. The Ford's passenger, 28-year-old Samuel Becerra Velasquez, was not injured.

OSP is continuing to investigate the crash.
