State Police say a Newberg man has died from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash over the weekend.

Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday evening's critical injury motorcycle crash that occurred on Highway 99W about one mile south of Dundee in Yamhill County.

At about 6:50 p.m. Saturday, a motorcycle operated by a male, later identified as Curtis M. Peterson, 24, was southbound on Highway 99W near milepost 28 and failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle traveled off the highway and the operator was ejected, coming to rest in a grassy area adjacent to the highway.

The operator was transported by air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and is in critical condition. He was wearing a protective helmet.

OSP troopers from the McMinnville and North Plains offices are continuing the investigation. Speed and alcohol are suspected contributing factors.

The highway was closed over an hour before one lane was open.

UPDATE; Curtis M. Peterson died of his injuries on 03/26/14.
