One killed, 2 injured in Saturday car crash

One man died and two children were seriously injured late Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle cash about eight miles northeast of La Grande.
Three people were riding unrestrained in the flatbed of a pickup truck when the vehicle was involved in a crash. Jacob Ryan Yeates, 23, died at the scene. The other people were two children,  Mickhail Defrates and Vannessa Halleck. They suffered serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
