Portland police search for driver who fled from fatal crash

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police in Portland say they're searching for the driver of a vehicle who fled following a Saturday morning collision between two vehicles that killed one person and severely injured three others. Police say the crash in northeast Portland occurred at about 5:30 a.m. and the driver of one vehicle fled the scene on foot. Authorities say police officers from multiple agencies are searching a neighborhood for the fleeing driver. Halsey Street between 155th and 162nd avenues will be closed for several hours during an investigation.

PORTLAND, Ore. – One person was killed and three were injured in a two-car crash Saturday morning in Northeast Portland. Northeast Halsey Street between 155th and 162nd avenues was closed for several hours. One person was pronounced dead at the scene while three others were taken to Portland hospitals with traumatic injuries, according to Portland police. The driver of one of the vehicles got out of the car and fled the scene on foot, police said. Gresham police and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office is assisting Portland police with finding the driver.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police are looking for a hit-and-run suspect who was involved in a two-car crash that killed one person and injured four others Saturday morning in Northeast Portland. Northeast Halsey Street between 155th and 162nd avenues was closed for several hours. Another passenger also fled from the scene but was located and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Two were immediately taken to Portland hospitals with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. Saucedo fled the scene on foot and has not been found, police said.

Peter West Gefre, a 26-year-old Gresham resident, died in the crash. Police are still looking for David Augustine Saucedo, the man who police said was driving the car Gefre was traveling in.
