Driver arrested after bicyclist killed
Police responded to the report of a crash involving a bicyclist and a vehicle at about 11:25 a.m., according to Portland police. When officers arrived, they found the man who was riding the bicycle critically injured on the west end of the bridge.

Police arrested Schrantz, who was booked into Multnomah County Jail on a charge of criminally negligent homicide. According to police, Schrantz was not impaired, but he was aware that his vehicle had equipment issues, including bald rear tires, that made it unsafe to drive.
