1 dead as 2 pedestrians hit by a car in Salem, Oregon

One person is dead and another seriously injured after they were struck by a car in a dark section of Edgewater St. NW in Salem. A Salem Police spokesperson stated that the two were in a dark part of Edgewater St. NW as it merges onto Highway 22. One pedestrian was dead when medical crews arrived. The second person has life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The driver that hit the pair stopped. Okada says investigators on scene see no sign the driver was impaired or driving recklessly. Edgewater at Highway 22 was closed for several hours for investigation. The accident happened at 9pm.
