Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.

Motorcycle insurance policies
Motorcycle insurance policies are significantly different than automobile insurance policies. Oregon law does not require auto insurance companies to sell personal injury protection (PIP) benefits for medical expenses or funeral expenses when injured on a motorcycle. The policy holder may elect to purchase medical and funeral coverage but it is not required. It is an optional coverage in Oregon. However the motorcycle owner may purchase medical coverage for passengers which is known as Guest Passenger Coverage but it only covers the passenger on the motorcyle not the operator. If there is neither pip nor guest passenger coverage then the passenger should contact their own automobile insurance company to see if their auto insurance PIP will pay for their medical iexpenses.
