Police ID driver who died in US 26 crash east of Sandy

A three-vehicle crash shut down all lanes of U.S. 26 between Sandy and Welches for over five hours.

First responders included the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, the Sandy police and fire departments, Hoodland Fire Department and ODOT.
Michael E. Eberitzsch II was driving a white Hyundai on eastbound U.S. 26 when he crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a semi-truck. A wheel came off of the truck in the impact and struck another semi-truck. The cause of the crash is currently unknown.The truck drivers remained at the scene after the incident. This crash is still under investigation.
