UPDATE: Fatal crash shuts down stretch of I-81

A tractor-trailer and as many as five cars collided between mile markers 44 and 45 around 7:50 a.m. The crash scene was about two miles south of the Hanover Street exit. PennDOT officials say the truck driver was killed in the crash. Others involved in the crash were taken to Hershey Medical Center. The tractor-trailer flipped onto its side and debris was strewn across the entire roadway.

Police ID driver killed in I-81 pile-up

Police said Ismael Medina, 54, from Laredo, Texas, crashed his tractor-trailer into slower moving traffic. The crash happened about two miles south of the Hanover Street exit in Cumberland County. The collision caused a five-car chain reaction crash.
