After Kent State University alumna dies in car crash, friends raise $13,000 in 1 day

KENT, Ohio – After Kent State University alumna Ali Fuhrman was killed in a car accident Sunday, more than 400 people raised $13,000 in less than a day, to pay for a funeral. Fuhrman, 24, graduated from Kent in 2014 and worked for PS-Stearns Inc. in Erie, Pennsylvania, according to her Facebook page. The driver of the other car fled the accident scene, but was later identified by police as 29-year-old Matthew Gerrans. The page was created by Fuhrman's Delta Gamma sorority sister and has been shared more than 2,500 times. Fuhrman's father was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries but she died immediately, Erie News Now reported.
