A Mechanicsburg teenager was arrested Thursday night after police in Upper Allen Township said the 16-year-old was found driving under the influence of drugs in a hit-and-run crash.
A Mechanicsburg teenager was arrested Thursday night after police in Upper Allen Township said the 16-year-old was found driving under the influence of drugs in a hit-and-run crash.
The incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Meadow Drive. A BMW Sedan, which was located by police several blocks away, struck a curb and caused property damage in the area of the crash. The sedan also sustained disabling damage in the incident.
The 16-year-old driver admitted to driving the car at a high rate of speed and also showed signs of driving under a controlled substance, police said.
The person was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, failure to drive at a safe speed and causing damage to an unattended vehicle or property in an accident.
The charges will be filed through the Cumberland County Juvenile Probation Department.
